Veterinary Technician Department
Sherry Hines, Vet Tech at
Bayshore Animal Hospital
Sherry Hines, CVT:
First and foremost – Sherry is an invaluable asset to BAH. We would be 'bumper cars' without her leadership and knowledge! Sherry comes to us from Michigan – Dowagiac, MI to be exact and her parents are both still residing there. Sherry has two sisters, both younger, with one living in north Florida and the other in transition. When she eventually made her way to Florida, Sherry came to work at BAH in our Kennel Department but, alas, she was so talented there that she attended and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Petersburg Junior College and became a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), a title that indicates huge preparation and commitment to the field of veterinary medicine. Sherry is our Head Technician – that means that she oversees and supervises the department as well as performing the many tasks required of a veterinary technician like: assisting in surgery, running and interpreting numerous types of lab tests, monitoring anesthesia for animals, dentals, assisting the doctors with hospitalized animals, maintaining medical records, filling prescriptions and many, many more duties. Sherry lives with Mika, her German Shepherd and Rhoda and Munchie, her two cats … actually Rhoda allows all the others to live with her! When Sherry breaks away from BAH she'll find the time to camp, hike, kayak, and bike – she loves the outdoors. If weather keeps her from those things she likes to read, paint and work on her "handyman special" home!
Wanda Gregerio, CVT:
Wanda was born in Oxnard, CA but by the time she was in high school had moved to Satellite Beach, FL and graduated from high school there. She received her A.A. degree from Broward Community College over on the east coast but came on over to the 'left' coast to attend St. Petersburg Junior College's Veterinary Technician program and ultimately become a CVT. Wanda has been married to John for nineteen years and has two adorable children, a boy and a girl. And spending time with her wonderful family is Wanda's favorite pastime ... who could blame her?! Wanda performs the same important duties that Sherry does. Usually if Wanda is in surgery, Sherry is in our lab for the many tests that are being run – if Sherry is in surgery, then Wanda is in the lab. Both perform dentistry's. Both are wonderful assets to our professional team! Both are lovely, lovely people!!
Linda Sullivan:
Linda was born right here in Bradenton, FL! A rarity in our transient state, huh? Not only that but she graduated from the high school that's just around the corner from us, Bayshore High School … she's a Bruin! Linda recently married her wonderful Dan in a beautiful wedding followed by an especially enjoyable reception. Linda's parents and one brother are in Bradenton and she has a brother who proudly serves our country in the United States Army (THANK YOU SO MUCH)! Linda's animal family consists of two dogs, a cat and a snake! Linda's schedule proves to be similar to most of our hard-working staff: she is a full time employee of BAH in and a recent graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at St. Petersburg College. We are very fortunate to have her at BAH in the capacity of Veterinary Technician. She runs lab blood work tests and is responsible for filling most of the prescriptions ordered by our veterinarians while seeing to the technician appointments throughout the day that include re-tapes of ear crops and other bandage changes, heartworm and feline leukemia checks, nail trims and many more duties. Linda is readily willing to take time to answer questions and assist in many ways that go beyond her job description and we thank her for that!

Pam - the BAH Lifeline
Pamela Snoble Donushi:
Pam is the BAH LIFELINE – we wouldn't know what to do without her and her knowledge and skills as she manages the daily routines of our hospital. The windy city of Chicago must miss her but we are certainly pleased that she moved to the Sunshine State! After attending both Forest View High School (Mt. Prospect) and Elkgrove High School (Elkgrove Village) Pam went to Harper College, receiving an A.A.S. in nursing, and then the University of Illinois in Chicago, receiving her B.A. She has been at BAH for over 20 years (we dare not say how many over 20 for fear that it will age Pam and the writer of her bio)! She is young at heart – and must be in order to maintain the physical agility and presence of mind to care for all of the animals she shares her heart and home with – they include two Doberman Pinchers, nine cats, thirteen birds and ONE husband … a very tolerant and good man! Pam's spare time is consumed with her animals and family along with her many, many acquaintances – many of these elderly friends whom she visits regularly, families who have adopted animals from BAH (she never lets them forget how much we appreciate their adoption), and friends she has made through her association with the Humane Society and BAH.
Rose always has our reception
area looking great
Rose Robison:
Rose, who started at BAH on July 10, 1985, was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, attended Butler High School and received her A.A. in Liberal Arts while still living in PA. Rose is married to Jim, a wonderful husband, father and grandpa (!) and is an Architect. Rose and Jim have three beautiful, and I mean beautiful (!), daughters and each of them have three wonderful husbands – and they have children, fantastic children! So Rose and Jim are grandparents x 6! Rose loves to spend time with that extraordinary family and her animal family that includes two Pugs and a conure. And she also loves gardening (often lifting bags & bags of mulch and soil), walking, decorating (she's responsible for how lovely our reception area always looks!) and watching sunsets on the beach with Jim. Rose, having been a receptionist at BAH for many years, has become a great friend to many of our clients – she is truly a dear person with an ever-present positive attitude – we all like that!!
Carol keeps us all organized.
Carol Ledford:
Carol is from Pawtucket, Rhode Island – you knew it had to be someplace way up there, didn't you? She graduated from Tolman High School and ultimately headed south to sunny Bradenton. We're glad she's here! Carol is a busy, busy lady … busy! She has a son, Taylor, who is 16 and keeps her on the run (and by the way, she is very proud of the terrific student he is)! In addition, Carol has many animals including one dog, a cat, a tortoise, a prairie dog and 21 birds – when does this woman rest?! When Carol has some spare time she loves traveling, hiking, camping, photography (she takes beautiful wildlife and scenic pictures), and scrapbooking. And if all that is not enough, she is a certified SCUBA diver and plays the guitar. Whew! I'm worn out just writing about all she does!
Terry Russell:
Terry was born in Lexington, Virginia (born when her father was a student at Washington & Lee University) and came to Florida via Cambodia (where she lived as a child for a while) and Ohio. After high school in Largo, FL, Terry graduated from the University of Florida and moved to Auburn, Alabama to teach. She came back to Florida, stopped teaching, raised two wonderful sons, went into mortgage banking and finally began working where she could see animals everyday instead of $ figures! In her spare time Terry likes to spend time with her family and animals, kayak (sometimes with a dog squished in), bike and read.
O.P. (or The Other Pam): we are anxiously awaiting your own special biography!
Kennel Department
Kyle Reynolds:
Kyle is such a wonderful and caring part of our hospital. He shows so much respect for the animals at BAH and for all the others with whom he works. (Don't tell … but we all think he is really wonderful!) Kyle was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts but fate brought him to Florida and eventually to BAH! He was a student at Booker High School but is now attending Manatee Community College working toward his B.A. He seems to have remarkable communication skills with the animals here especially with DOK who is particularly fond of Kyle. He has been especially skillful in relating to our volunteers at BAH and has taught our volunteer students a lot about handling and caring for animals. We all swear we have never seen Kyle without a smile on his face!
Brittany, Chris, Jenny, Johanna, and Mary: We're waiting for your bio's!!

Dok, a Hyacinth Macaw is the
mascot at Bayshore Animal Hospital
DOK:
DOK is our Big Blue Bird – a Hyacinth Macaw – who is pretty much our BAH Mascot. He is a beautiful bird but he can sometimes be Dennis the Menace. He recently turned 16 years old and will likely live to be 50 to 60 years old! DOK believes that Pam D. is his mother and that Dr. Mossler is his father … he probably has no idea that he is feathered and they are not! The largest of all parrots, the Hyacinth Macaw is a species that grows up to 40 inches long and weighs around 2½ pounds. Hyacinths are playful, intelligent, and avid chewers. They love puzzling toys, interlocking toys, or toys with surprise treats that have to be extracted. Hyacinth numbers in the wild are decreasing, and their status is rare to endangered. Recent population studies estimate the number of Hyacinth Macaws in the wild to be between 4,000 to 6,000. Breeding them is very difficult. We love our Dokie – especially on the days when he stays out of trouble!
Rudi keeps clients (and us)
entertained with his antics!
Rudi:
Rudi is an African Grey parrot who lives at BAH. He's a good bird and makes lots of sounds. Rudi came to us with his beak almost entirely broken off. After numerous beak prosthesis's and superior care by Dr. Mossler and the BAH staff, Rudi's beak has grown to a level where it is now functional. The African Grey parrot has a wonderful character, a combination of intelligence and charm. African Grey parrots have been kept as pets for over 4000 years. The Egyptians are thought to be the first to keep the African Grey parrot as pets, as depicted in their hieroglyphics. The Greeks also highly valued the African Grey parrot as pets, as did the Romans who kept these intelligent birds in highly ornate cages. Rudi likes to spend time helping the receptionists and is a real lover, who loves to kiss!
Nino:
Nino is another African Grey who resides at BAH. He came to us almost completely devoid of feathers. Now, due to improved nutrition and environmental enrichment at our hospital, Nino is fully feathered and healthy! Nino spends most of his time in "the back" because his vocabulary includes words that shouldn't be heard by small children or the faint-of-heart! Nino loves to dance … especially to rap music. We have learned that if we value our fingers we should not allow them to get very close to Nino's beak, know what I mean? At night Nino and Rudi have contests of voice … it's really very interesting and we're sure they are 'testing' us and planning a book after their research is completed!
Ike:
Ike is our resident dog – our canine blood donor. Ike is a Greyhound and we have always had at least one Greyhound on duty at BAH as a blood donor because their vascular system is such that we can depend on being able to draw the necessary quantity of blood for the needs of a transfusion. But Ike is more than a resident blood donor – he is just a wonderful dog-friend. He never stops smiling and he is so obedient. What a wonderful breed! Ike loves to run (duh!) and our faithful kennel crew is always so good to allow him that opportunity – this keeps them fit, too!
Sheena:
Sheena is our resident cat – she also allows herself to be our feline blood donor should the need for a transfusion become necessary. Sheena loves to be fed as is evidenced by the size of her stomach! She is not fond of being held but is quite content to be petted! When near her cage she will insist on being paid attention to!
